St. Anton am Arlberg is located
1 304 meters above sea level, just at the foot
of the Arlberg massif. The village has a mere
2 300 inhabitants and is characterized by a combination
of international flair and a genuine Austrian
Tyrolean culture.
ST. ANTON CLAIMS TO BE
the birthplace of skiing, and the Alps first
ski club was formed here in 1901. Today, St. Anton
is a paradise for mountain lovers with its 260
kilometers of groomed trails, 82 ski lifts and
unlimited possibilities for back country skiing
and ski touring. Due to St. Antons high
altitude location, the resort is regarded as one
of the most snow reliable ski areas in the Alps,
something that attracts thousands of enthusiasts
every winter.
Regardless of your preference,
St. Anton has something for everybody; if you
want to ski steep north faces or cruise endlessly
on groomed trails, hit the pipe in Rendls
snowboard park or relax in the sun with jägertee
and knödel. You can telemark in Stubens
powder or lay the first track down the slopes
you previously hiked, ski Schindlers moguls
or warm up with a glühwein and live
music at the pub. During spring, as the weather
gets warmer, the area is ideal for mountain biking,
rafting, parapenting, trekking and climbing.
IN THE HEART OF THE TYROL
there is far more to entertain you than just mountain
activities. Stroll around in the village and enjoy
the magnificent views, enjoy an espresso and apfelstrudel
on a sunny terrace, relax with a beer at the pool
table, or try the local specialties in one of
the many restaurants around the village. Swim
in the heated outdoor pool, race your buddies
down the bobsleigh track or try Kegel, the Austrian
equivalent to bowling.
When darkness falls, the many
bars and clubs fling their doors open and live
bands and DJs guarantee an intense nightly experience
seven days a week.
THE
TEACHING TAKES PLACE in the newly built, top
modern Zielstadion in the Arlberg Well.com-centre.
The centre is located next to the slopes in the
heart of St. Anton and was opened during The Ski
World Championships in 2001. Apart from class
rooms, the study centre contains a fitness centre,
in- and outdoor pool, sauna, ice-skating rink
and restaurant.
